University of Mississippi Medical Center Department of Preventive Medicine
The department is housed in both the School of Medicine and the John D. Bower School of Population Health. Our mission is to:
- Educate and train health professionals in the science and practice of disease prevention and health promotion for both individuals and populations;
- Conduct impactful research that will guide efforts to improve the health of individuals and populations; and
- Provide clinical services that will assist individuals in preventing disease and optimizing health.
Mississippi faces a number of challenges when it comes to improving health, but it also has many assets. We are confident that through hard work and collaboration, we can help bring about significant improvements in the health of Mississippians.
